We Had a Family “I Hate Coronavirus” Party and You Should Too
We all need to blow off some steam right now
As the governor announced that our state’s public schools would be closed for the remainder of the school year, my eighth grade daughter was in shock. “But…but that means I might not ever see my friends again. I’m going to a different high school than most of them. That means no eighth grade graduation, no spring formal…”
She shook her head. “I never realized when I walked into school on the last day of school that it would be the last day of school.”
Then she grabbed her skateboard and took off.
I watched her go, and I looked at the dejected face of my extroverted husband– who has been on the phone with friends nonstop, trying to find some outlet as he struggles with this sudden confinement– as he realized that this “thing” was going to be going on for much longer than we had originally thought. I knew he was wondering about his job. Would he get paid? Was his work considered “essential”?
My son and my youngest two girls have been taking things in stride, but I found myself worried about them too. I mean, my son is very go-with-the-flow and I homeschool my two youngest girls anyway, but this social distancing is something that none of us has ever done before. We’re…
