This is the first time I've ever heard of this story.

And the one about the roast. Why does Grandma cut off the ends of the roast? Because her mother did it. Turns out Great-Grandma had a small pan and a small oven and had to make the roast fit. The point is that people keep doing the same thing and don’t ask why because “that’s the way we’ve always done it.”
