Now That My Husband is in Quarantine, I’m Chasing a Coronavirus Ghost

I thought COVID-19 testing was pointless. I was wrong.

Three days ago I read an article in which the author argued that at this point, Coronavirus is out there, and getting tested for it is a waste of time. If you’re sick, you’re sick, and you should stay home and get better.

It made sense to me. After all, there are no meds yet that specifically target the virus, and if you’re not in the “danger zone” demographic, you should be able to ride it out, right?

…if you’ve ever heard a nurse say, “She’s tachycardic” while holding a stethoscope to your gasping three-year-old’s chest…you’ll understand why I don’t want to take any risks when it comes to Coronavirus.

Two days ago my husband got sick with what we thought was a stomach bug. The stomach bug turned into a cough, and yesterday he went to the doctor. She told him he had all the symptoms. She said he needed to get tested for Coronavirus. She told him that until he got tested, he needed to quarantine himself from the rest of the family, for at least fourteen days.
