ALL THE TIME. Literally after every single baby I had (four) we'd have to gear up for the insurance fight afterward. We would get hospital bills (multiple ones from multiple providers at the ONE hospital where I had the baby) and it would say that the insurance company wasn't going to cover it. So my husband (bless him) would get on the phone with the insurance company and argue with them until the bill was paid.

It was all (mostly) covered in the end, but why on earth did it take all the phone calls and the arguing, especially during a time when we should have been enjoying our new little bundle of joy?

I have always ranted about insurance, but your points about healthcare in and of itself (and its costs) are equally valid and should be making us all question why we're still stuck in this ridiculous hamster wheel that is American healthcare.
